Protect yourself and your bathroom
Impurities from plumbing systems and disinfection chemicals can impact water quality. A shower filter safeguards your skin and hair while keeping your bathroom cleaner.
What is a shower filter?
A shower filter removes impurities from water before it comes into contact with your skin, hair, and bathroom surfaces.
While Finnish tap water is renowned for its high quality, plumbing systems may introduce metals and other impurities into the water. A shower filter effectively removes iron, rust, and other metals, as well as lime, chlorine, and bacteria.
Filtered water improves the condition of your skin and hair and may be the solution to many hair and skincare challenges. Plus, you can say goodbye to limescale buildup in your bathroom – thanks to the filter, cleaning becomes much easier.
Installing a shower filter doesn’t require professional assistance. The elegantly simple design of the AQVA FRESH shower filter fits most Finnish shower models.

Why Filter Your Water – Benefits of a Shower Filter
A shower filter improves the well-being of your skin and hair while making it easier to keep your bathroom surfaces clean – effortlessly and affordably.
Benefits for Skin Care
During winter, many people struggle with dry, flaky, or atopic skin. A shower filter effectively removes chlorine, lime, and the disinfectants and pH adjusters added to municipal water – common culprits that dry out the skin.
Many of our customers have shared that using a shower filter has significantly improved their skin conditions. Filtered water can help alleviate symptoms for those with atopic dermatitis or chronically dry skin.

Benefits for Hair Care
Metals from pipes and lime and chlorine added during water treatment often accumulate in hair, creating challenges for hair care. Does your hair break easily or feel tangled? Is the color of your hair turning green or dull, and do salon-grade hair care products seem ineffective?
Metals and other substances that accumulate in hair can dull hair color and make hair brittle, tangled, and lackluster. Unfiltered water can also affect the scalp, causing itchiness and dryness.
With a water filter, you can reduce the chemical burden on your hair care routine. Our customers report faster, healthier hair growth, brighter color retention, and improved effectiveness of hair care products after starting to use a shower filter.

A Clean and Low-Maintenance Bathroom
Do lime streaks appear on your shower walls in no time?
A shower filter helps keep your bathroom clean by preventing metal and lime residues from building up on surfaces. Your bathroom stays fresher, saving you time and effort better spent elsewhere than scrubbing tiles.
Additionally, a shower filter improves hygiene by removing microbes from the water in the shower hose and showerhead.
Designed and Made in Finland – Using High-Quality Materials
AQVA FRESH shower filters are designed and manufactured in Finland. You can rely on the products’ Finnish origin, their high quality, and the dependable availability of replacement filters.
All our FRESH filters are produced in our own facilities in Herttoniemi, Helsinki.
The filter, made from durable, non-toxic plastic, is both safe and environmentally friendly. Its corrosion-resistant and robust material ensures years of reliable use.
The shower filter body is crafted from plastic commonly used in the aerospace industry, offering exceptional resistance to temperature fluctuations and prolonged exposure to water.
The plastic is fully recyclable, making it a more sustainable choice compared to shower filters made from chrome or aluminum.
The filtration stages have been optimized to specifically reduce impurities that burden hair and skin.

1. The swirling motion of the water enables efficient filtration across a large surface area, preventing clogs from forming too quickly.
2. 2–5 µm microfiltration removes microplastics, debris, particles, and sediment as small as 1/500th of a millimeter. This filtration makes bathroom maintenance easier by preventing sediment from accumulating on shower floors and walls.
3. Impurities are absorbed by activated carbon and trapped within it. Activated carbon captures metals and heavy metals, which can easily build up in hair, causing discoloration and reducing the effectiveness of certain hair care products.
4. In the neutralization process, impurities are broken down so they no longer cause issues. Calcium sulfate neutralizes chlorine, chloramine, iron, rust, and lime. Both chlorine and lime dry out the skin and scalp, making hair prone to tangling and breakage.

Information about Water Impurities
Still wondering why Finnish tap water should be filtered?
Finland is known for having some of the world’s cleanest water resources, but the plumbing systems may tell a different story—some cities have pipes that are over 100 years old. The substances leaching from old pipes and the chemicals used in disinfection can affect the water’s taste, color, or smell.
Traditionally, it has been assumed that thorough treatment at the waterworks is sufficient to ensure high-quality, clean tap water. However, the journey from the water treatment plant to your tap can take several days, during which many impurities can dissolve into the water.
Substances released from the plumbing and the chemicals used in disinfection affect water quality.
To reduce wear and tear on pipes and plumbing systems, municipal water pH is adjusted by adding lime to the water. Additionally, chlorine or chloramine may be added to ensure the hygienic quality of the water. However, both chlorine and lime can dry out your skin and scalp, making hair prone to tangling and breakage.
Even though the water itself is relatively clean, particles from the pipes inevitably enter the water—especially from older plumbing systems, which may release significant amounts. Water traveling through the pipes can contain iron, copper, other heavy metals, and rust. These substances easily accumulate in porous or treated hair and can stain bathroom surfaces.
What impurities does the shower filter remove?
The AQVA FRESH shower filter has been tested to filter the following impurities from water:
Chlorine and Chloramine
Lime
Heavy metals, iron and rust
Smells and tastes

FAQ
Does the device come with a filter inside?
Yes, all of our devices come with a filter pre-installed, so you can start using it right away.
Will the shower filter fit my shower?
The AQVA FRESH shower filter is compatible with almost all showers in Finland. It has a half-inch standard thread, which is commonly used in shower hoses and mixers. The filter can also be installed with a rain shower head.
We also offer various connectors and extension pieces if the filter cannot be directly attached to your shower mixer.
How do I know when to replace the filter?
Shower filter cartridges should be replaced regularly to maintain optimal filtration performance. You may notice the need for a replacement if the water pressure decreases. For a single user, the recommended replacement interval is 12 months. In a household with two users, the recommended interval is about 6 months, and for a four-person household, it's around 3 months. These replacement intervals are based on average water quality.
Does the filter affect water pressure?
A newly installed filter will not affect water pressure significantly. However, over time, especially if there are many sediments and suspended solids in the water, the filter may clog, which can affect water pressure. By following the recommended replacement intervals, you can ensure both good water pressure and effective filtration.
Why does the AQVA FRESH shower filter contain two filters?
The AQVA FRESH shower filter has two filter cartridges, allowing the filter to fit into tight spaces. This is especially useful when the mixer is close to the wall or in a bathtub setup. The dual-filter design makes the AQVA FRESH shower filter significantly more effective than many other filters on the market. The filtration media used is of the highest quality, and the design allows for more filtration media to be included in the filter, resulting in superior filtration power and capacity.
Additionally, using two high-quality filter cartridges ensures that water flows more slowly through each filter, which greatly increases the purification effect. This is because the water stays in contact with the filtration media for a longer period. With two filter cartridges, the flow rate remains consistent, but the result is cleaner water.
Is the product available in chrome color? Will there be a chrome shower filter in the future?
The AQVA FRESH shower filter is not available in chrome. Chrome plating is very harmful to the environment and produces a lot of waste material during the manufacturing process. Chrome is highly toxic and carcinogenic, and the waste generated by this process pollutes the soil and water. For these reasons, we have not considered producing a chrome version of the shower filter.
The plastic we use is durable and made from recyclable materials. Additionally, the plastic parts are manufactured in Finland, ensuring proper and responsible recycling practices. Plastic recycling and reuse are at a high level in Finland and Europe, so overall, plastic is a better option despite its long decomposition time.
