Extensive Bacterial Analysis for Drinking Water: E. coli, Coliform Bacteria, and Enterococci
This microbiological analysis is designed for well water testing. It is not suitable for chlorinated municipal water. If you want to test bacteria in municipal water, please contact our customer service to arrange for an appropriate sampling kit and sample delivery.
Coliform bacteria are found, among other places, in the intestines of humans and warm-blooded animals. They serve as indicators of fecal contamination in water. Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria are exclusively found in feces, whereas other coliform bacteria can also proliferate in soil, surface water, and wastewater.
Enterococci, like E. coli, indicate fecal contamination and, when present, signal a risk of waterborne intestinal infections. Enterococci are commonly found in the feces of humans and warm-blooded animals but may also originate from the environment. Because enterococci persist well in the environment, they can indicate contamination that occurred long before the sample was taken.
Coliform bacteria, E. coli, and enterococci can enter wells through inadequate or damaged sealing or due to soil structure, making well disinfection or repair a temporary solution. Coliform bacteria (excluding E. coli) are not harmful to humans in small amounts when consumed, but they provide significant insight into water quality and potential purification needs. If enterococci or E. coli bacteria are detected, the water is unfit for use as is.
The product includes a sampling kit with prepaid shipping to the laboratory and clear sampling instructions.
Results are delivered to your email within two weeks of the sample’s arrival at the laboratory.
The analysis includes the following tested properties:
- Enterococci
- E. coli
- Coliform bacteria
The analysis report includes a statement based on the threshold values set by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, evaluated according to the water’s tested properties.
