AQVA SAIMAA 2 LAKE reverse osmosis system

RENEWED reverse osmosis unit, for purifying lake or well water into drinkable water. Produces up to 105 liters of clean drinking water per hour. The reverse osmosis unit is manufactured in Finland and has the Key Flag symbol.

Benefits

  • Produces crystal-clear water.
  • Filters up to 99% of impurities.
  • Easy to use and maintain, even for seasonal cottage use.
  • Easily meets the water consumption of an average Finnish family.
  • Water is produced into a large 185-liter clean water tank, which acts as a buffer during peak consumption.
  • Does not use electricity. Operates solely on the pressure of a well or lake water pump.
  • Filters even hard-to-remove compounds such as fluoride, uranium, blue-green algae, chloride, and arsenic.
  • Multi-stage pre- and post-filtration.
  • Filters usually need to be replaced only once a year.

Purification and methods of action

  1. Pre-filter removes larger solid particles from the water.
  2. Activated carbon filter widely removes various impurities, such as organic compounds, chlorine, industrial chemicals, and gaseous compounds like hydrogen sulfide and radon.
  3. Polyphosphate filter protects the device and extends the lifespan of the osmosis membrane. It transforms impurities, such as lime, into a form that does not accumulate in the system.
  4. The reverse osmosis membrane is the core of the device: it filters impurities very effectively, allowing only pure water through. Impurities are flushed away with the rinse water.
  5. The post-filter ensures the hygienic quality of the water in the system and passing through it by combining fibrous activated carbon and 0.1 µm ultrafiltration. This also enhances the filtration of gaseous impurities.
  6. The post-mineralization filter adds calcium to the water and raises its pH level. This makes the water fresher and more natural in taste. In AQVA SAIMAA2 versions, post-mineralization is integrated into the reverse osmosis unit.

Filters out from water

  • Solid particles
  • Turbidity and color
  • Lime
  • Metals such as iron and manganese
  • Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic*
  • Salts such as chloride**, sodium**, sulfates, nitrates, and nitrites
  • Organic compounds such as pesticides, pharmaceutical residues, and hormones
  • Microbiological impurities such as bacteria, viruses, and molds
  • Chlorine and other chlorine compounds
  • Uranium
  • Gaseous impurities such as radon*** and hydrogen sulfide

* Arsenic is typically filtered with over 85% efficiency, but in some cases, the result may be weaker. ** About 85% of salt (sodium and chloride) is filtered with the freshwater system. *** If the water contains radon, note that the activated carbon filter may act as a radiation source. More information can be found in the user and installation manuals.

Replacement filters

The replacement filter pack AQ011-2V1 for annually replaced filters includes:

  • 1µm fine filter, AQMF1-L
  • Activated carbon filter, AQCB-L
  • Polyphosphate filter, AQPF-L

The complete replacement filter pack AQRO2-LAKE-V includes all filters:

  • 1µm fine filter, AQMF1-L
  • Activated carbon filter, AQCB-L
  • Polyphosphate filter, AQPF-L
  • Reverse osmosis membranes, AQ061-600 x 2
  • Post-mineralization filter, AQPH-M
  • Post-filter, AQUF01-L
  • Replacement air filter, AQMF1-M

Replace filters at the latest if they clog or water production slows down. Theoretical lifespan of osmosis membranes and post-filters is up to two years. Pre-filters and post-mineralization have a theoretical lifespan of one year.

Package contents

  • Combination of three L-size filter housings for pre-filters: AQ3L
  • Pre-filters: AQMF1-L, AQCB-L and AQPF-L
  • AQVA SAIMAA2 LAKE reverse osmosis unit
  • Osmosis membranes: AQ061-600 x 2 (pre-installed)
  • 185-liter clean water tank: AQ-TAN-185
  • Water tank replacement air filter, AQ1MC-MF1
  • Almost silent distribution pump: Scala2
  • Post-filter: AQ1L-UF01
  • Post-mineralization filter: AQ1PH-M (pre-installed)
  • Hoses and connectors for connecting pre-filters and water tank to the reverse osmosis unit.

Technical specifications

  • Inlet connection for pre-filters, 1" internal thread.
  • Three-way valve at the outlet of the clean water tank, 3/4" internal thread.
  • Distribution pump inlet and outlet connection 1" external thread.
  • From post-mineralization to distribution, 1" internal thread.
  • The system requires about 150 x 150 cm wall space. The largest single component is the water tank, dimensions: H91 x W61 x D40 (cm). Components are freely placeable and do not need to be in the same location.
  • The system must be installed in a space where possible leaks or spills on walls or floors do not cause problems.
  • The system produces more rinse water than clean water. Recommended rinse water amount is 2-3 liters per 1 liter of filtered water. The ratio can be adjusted from the rinse water meter on the system.
  • More information can be found in the user and installation manuals on the "Files" tab.

System requirements

  • Stable feed pressure 2–10 bar.
  • If pressure is below 3 bar, clean water production may be slow. Higher feed pressure increases clean water production.
  • Recommended feed water temperature is 4 - 30°C. Lower temperature slows production but improves purification efficiency. Warmer water has the opposite effect.
  • Recommended feed water TDS value under 1500 mg/l. With higher TDS, production speed is lower and vice versa.
  • More information can be found in the user and installation manuals on the "Files" tab.

Winter storage

The system must not freeze when water is inside. Winter storage of the reverse osmosis system is done by plugging the water lines of the reverse osmosis unit with the plugs supplied and moving the unit to a warm space. First, close the water line, drain the pipes and housings, then plug the reverse osmosis unit and store it in a warm place. Membranes do not need to be removed. In spring, when reactivating the system, let water run to the drain for about 30 min to rinse the membranes. After this, the water can be used normally. More information is found in the user and installation manuals.
