Double iron and manganese filter package
With this filter combination, you can replace the discontinued products AQ3XL-MF1-IRON-MAX, AQ3XL-MF1-IRON-MN, and AQ3XL-MF1-FE-IRON.
Renewed, More Efficient Three-Filter Iron-Line Filter Package in XL Size for Higher Iron and Manganese Concentrations
The three-stage filtration system is suitable for water purification when the combined iron and manganese concentration is up to 6 mg/L (6000 µg/L). Below, you will find detailed theoretical capacities and recommended limits for different types of contaminants.
All filters are manufactured in Finland by AQVA Finland Oy.
Benefits:
- Improves the quality of domestic water
- Easy maintenance
- No drainage required
- Pressure release button
- Standard size 20" BB
- Simple to install and use
- No electricity needed
Purification Methods:
- First Stage: Oxidizing iron-manganese filter (AQFE2-XL), which effectively targets specific forms of iron and is particularly efficient for manganese.
- Second Stage: Ion-exchange-based iron-manganese filter (AQFEI-XL), highly effective for specific iron forms and also filters manganese.
- Third Stage: Activated carbon filter (AQCB-XL), which finalizes and refreshes water quality by removing various odors, tastes, and sediments from the water.
Filters:
- Iron
- Manganese
- Suspended solids down to 5 µm
- Odors and tastes
- Pesticides
- Other organic compounds
Theoretical Filter Cartridge Capacities:
- When the total concentration of iron, manganese, and humus (COD) is 1 mg/L (1000 µg/L): 600 m³
- When the total concentration of iron, manganese, and humus (COD) is 5 mg/L (5000 µg/L): 120 m³
- When the total concentration of iron, manganese, and humus (COD) is 10 mg/L (10000 µg/L): 60 m³
- Exception: The first 1 µm fine filter’s capacity depends on the amount of suspended solids and sediments, typically ranging between 24–50 m³. (It is recommended to keep one or two of these affordable filters in stock.)
- Note: The capacities and contaminant removal efficiency have been studied and tested internally through collaboration between AQVA’s water laboratory and development team, as well as in practical conditions. In real-world conditions, water quality, type, and often unknown seasonal variations in wells may affect performance and filter longevity.

System Requirements:
- Consistent inlet pressure: 2–10 bar
- Installed in the water line after a membrane pressure tank
- Operating temperature: 2–30°C
- Maximum iron concentration: 6 mg/L (6000 µg/L). Recommended below 4 mg/L (4000 µg/L)
- Maximum manganese concentration: 0.6 mg/L (600 µg/L). Recommended below 0.4 mg/L (400 µg/L)
- Maximum humus (COD): 15 mg/L. Recommended below 10 mg/L
- Maximum recommended flow rate with maximum contaminant levels: 15 liters per minute, corresponding to simultaneous use of 1–4 water points. Higher flow rates are possible if needed.
- Typical pressure drop at 8 liters per minute flow rate: approximately 0.8 bar. Usage and water contaminant levels may affect this.
- If the water contains significant rust sediment, an affordable 1 µm fine filter (AQ1XL-MF1) can be installed before the filter package.
Winter Storage:
- During winter, if temperatures drop below 2°C, to prevent frost damage, water lines should be shut off, and the filter housings drained.
